T-Commerce Ltd preferred current database engine is MS SQL Server 2005. We are also highly experienced in the creation of MS SQL Server 2000 and other releases of this world leading database engine
Additionally, our initial experiences of MS SQL Server 2008 are also highly positive with exceptional performance results and over the next couple of years we expect this version to rapidly establish itself as the world’s de-facto database server engine and especially for web based high performance applications.
With SQL and especially MS SQL Server, now at the heart of so many corporate database solutions, it is understood that for database and administration purposes it is often necessary and preferred to establish a core database standard within an organisation
It is for this reason why we will continue to assume that MS SQL Server 2005 will remain the preferred client choice but as with programming tools generally, it is the requirement and the designated operating environment which will be the driver for any platform recommendations that we make.
Due to its licensing costs and some organisations attitudes to Microsoft’s commercial approach in general, there is a well established web alternative in the guise of My SQL database engines and many leading and highly successful web brands achieve extremely high performances from the current version of this platform My SQL 5.1. The next big release MySQL 5.4 is anticipated for release 3rd quarter of 2009 although as with all technologies we always suggest a period of industry observation first before ever suggesting a new platform for a client.
We also employ developers with experience of ORACLE development and we additionally partner with ORACLE specialists where appropriate, should there be a need to maintain ORACLE as the core database engine for a solution.
